Kelli Kaye on "Deadly Beloved"
The audition process
The audition was incredible. They were ahead of schedule, there was a calm
atmosphere, the whole audition panel let you come in, do your work and let you
express your choices you had made. Being that my audition was emotional and
intense, the room of wonderful people took the liberty of lightening up the
moment with humor. That made me feel extremely calm and accepted in the group.
The Shoot
I enjoyed every minute I was on the set, and didn't want the shoot to end. The
entire crew, even with the long hours, were funny, hard working, extremely
talented, and very dedicated to their craft. Everyone pulled together as a
team to get done whatever was necessary to complete the vision we were all
striving for. Director Grégori Holderbach was an incredible outstanding
director. He set his shot up, knew what he wanted, communicated with DP Jonathan
Williams, achieved it in very few takes, and moved along to the next. Grégori is passionate and gives acknowledgements in regards to your performance
and professionalism so you know and..feel his appreciation. Working with Grégori
has been an incredible experience and it would be an honor to work with him
again. He is truly an outstanding individual. Executive Producer
Laurence Karubian is a hands-on producer who cared deeply for everybody involved
and was attentive to everyone's needs. No to mention the awesome food he had
catered! When thanking Laurence for involving me in this project, he would
divert the thanks ten times more back to me and give you, the artist, the
undying credit for the project being a success. It really makes you feel
appreciated. He is truly an inspiration, and a great person to be around.
DP Jonathan Williams is awesome. He is deeply knowledgeable and passionate in
his craft. In preparing for a scene, he and the rest of the crew were always on
top of what was going on around them, from the director to the actors. We had a
great non-verbal communication which was an incredible experience. They were amazing.
My funny story
We were shooting a scene down in the small basement, and I say small for a
reason. We are shooting a scene where the characters are trying to find a way to
escape and the ghost (me) signals to the character of Toni (Melissa Searing) the
way out. Now, mind you, I have to stay in the corner, I have nowhere to go. The
other actors get to move around, get out and get some fresh air, etc. Actor
Brian decides to flatulent in the basement. And let me tell you, it wasn't
pretty!! Melissa and Brian laugh and leave, and I'm stuck in the corner and
couldn't go anywhere. It wasn't a pretty sight, or should I say smell, LOL!!! Thanks Brian...
My take on the character of Victoria
When I read through all the characters for the movie, the only one I wanted to
submit for was "Victoria," the ghost. This character was nothing like I had ever
chosen, and I was intrigued by her complexity. I was ecstacic to get to audition
for the role. I studied the sides, broke her down, and with the help of my
acting coach Jane Emery, I related and connected with the role. Victoria is
childlike, as she never had the opportunity to grow and become independent. She
is frustrated when she tries to help yet another victim escape, and avoid the
same destiny as herself and the others that have fallen into the trap. But no
one wants to listen to her or feel her presence. In desperation to free herself
from being succumbed mentally and physically by her brother, the last bit of
strength in her soul will help drive her to free herself and save the lives of
the others. She shows her undying will to survive, finds the motherly
figure and passion in Toni she has longed for, and feels gratification by
finally having the strength to accomplish her dream... freedom.
I was honored to get the opportunity to create a brilliant character and help
bring to life this wonderful vision that was created by such talented people. If
I had one last advice to give, it'd be for anyone to never give up. If you
truly have the passion, then you will succeed.
