VICTORIA DeMARE on "Deadly Beloved"
Victoria DeMare (Miriam) has been performing professionally since the age of
seven. Originally from New York City, Victoria danced with the "Joffrey Ballet
Company" as an apprentice, whilst earning her Bachelor of Arts degree at New
York University.
She has been working steadily in feature films now, making her big screen debut
in Roger Corman's 2002 Horror/Comedy SLAUGHTER STUDIOS. She can be seen next in
her first starring role in a film she also produced entitled AMAZING GRACE, due
for release in the Fall of 2005.
"Working on DEADLY BELOVED" was not only a complete joy, but it was also a
terrific challenge! I love to work hard on small films and finding the other
creative professionals and then developing lasting working relationships with
them. DEADLY BELOVED was definitely one of my most memorable experiences. We
worked incredibly long days with sometimes earlier than dawn call times. You
could really see who was happy to be there and get to work, and who was not. I
also loved the challenge as an actor in that we all had so many different scenes
to shoot each day, to remain as true to the schedule as we could. I like to push
myself to live as truthfully as possible in all those moments flying from
emotion to emotion. It's a real high to see your character become alive like
that.
Miriam quickly became one of my most favorite characters I've had the pleasure
of playing. She was a trip! I sketched out who Miriam was to me within the group
of friends, and how she related to each of the characters before we began
shooting, but as I stepped into her skin, Miriam surprised me! I think she
surprised everyone! She became a real character! She was so uptight and high
maintenance, but she had a heart. I think disappointment and heartache caused
her to become the little diva bitch she felt she had to be in order to protect
herself. Miriam also felt she had to turn to God in order to save herself from
being damned to hell. Once she was attacked, Miriam desperately turned to God to
please spare her life thus her soul would be redeemed. At the end, Miriam's life
has drastically changed thus she is ready to take on a whole new life and a new
adventure. I've never played a girl who evolved to be so funny, and that was a
true blast to convey!
I'm going through withdrawals now! I'm always so depressed when a project
finishes the production phase, because then my work is done. I go through
post-production depression! I'm currently preparing for my second Actor's Studio
audition and rehearsing for my next film entitled YUMA GIRL, where I play a
young girl from Mexico City trying to a get a green card in the US to fulfill
her dream to teach drama."
