WADE RIKERT on "Deadly Beloved"

"I first approached Grégori, the director, about the special F/X about a month before the movie was to be shot. I thought the script was something that would be a fun yet challenging movie to take on. After taking a meeting with Grégori and getting to understand his visions and goals for the F/X, I walked away excited but hopeful he'd hire me for the project.

There were a lot of extensive F/X to be created, and only one week of preproduction to complete them. I had my hands full! It's always nerve-wracking at first when building the body prop parts, because you never truly know how it will look on camera, how well it will work, and if the actors themselves can do their best to work alongside the aperatus.

One funny story occured when Grégori and his casting director were casting for the part of Alex (Mama's secret lover). When it was his turn for a body casting, he was unavailable due to other conflicts. Being a major F/X gag that would be good for the film, Grégori thought that I might as well mold my own chest and stomach. We would cheat the angle and lighting to pull it off when the actor playing Alex showed up on set. Turns out, two days before he was to come to set, he was in an accident and unavailable for the movie's entirety. Having the F/X mold made from me anyway, and having some acting experience under my belt, I was then asked to fill in for the part of Alex. It's always fun to be a part of a movie when the unexpected lands on your plate. It was a fun project the whole way through, and I definitely took from it a lot of memories and a few good friends. I can't wait to hear when their next few project will be announced."
